AMD Nx586 processor...due to Windows 95 developed prior to the Nx586.
Cause:
Some versions of Windows 95 were developed prior to the AMD Nx586 and are incapable of recognizing the processor.
Solution:
Contact Microsoft to obtain a patch for Windows 95 or get the Windows CPU Identifier toolbox from AMD.
WARNING: Electrical shock hazard! Make sure the power is turned off and the external power cables have been disconnected before removing the computer cover.
CAUTION 1: This task should be performed by a qualified computer technician.
CAUTION 2: Please observe steps to reduce the potential damage to computer components from electrostatic discharge.
1) Check the motherboard to see if the bus system is VL-based or PCI-based.
a) Remove the computer cover.
b) If the motherboard is using a VL-based bus system, there will be two or three long adapter slots.
c) If the motherboard is using a PCI-based bus system, there will be three or four adapter slots. The slots will be approximately four inches long.

2) Download the appropriate Windows CPU Identifier toolbox from AMD.
a) Using any browser, go to http://www.amd.com. (The 'AMD' Web page appears.)
b) Type 'Windows CPU Identifier toolbox' in the box, and click 'Search'.
c) Click 'AMD - Nx586 Processor Toolbox'.
d) If your motherboard uses a VL-based bus system, click 'updtvl30.exe'.
e) If your motherboard uses a PCI-based bus system, click 'updtpi31.exe'.
f) Save the file to the hard disk.
3) Read the README.TXT file to get information on the installation process of the toolbox.
